Age

Age is a wonder I’ll never grasp.

If you ask someone their age

it’s possible to receive many replies,

most of them not entirely honest.

I have a theory on age.

I like life.

I like waking up early every morning.

I like sunrises and sunsets.

I like the progression of a day

- the order.

Age, for me, is a number.

Age does not define me.

Age does not dictate who I am.

I believe in the power of words.

 I urge you to consider this

before you make wishes

 that may be granted.

Please don’t wish never to be 30

or 40, or 50.

The alternative to not turning these ages

is Death.

I recognize that’s harsh.

You may even be offended.

But to age is a gift.

Unwrap it slowly…

 Enjoy it…

but don’t throw it away.
